Bathtime!!

Jackson absolutely loves his bath! I think it's his favorite time of the day. We do the same routine everynight, so right when he finishes his dinner, he starts getting excited because he knows his bath is coming! Sometimes we try to distract him by doing other things with him, like playing, but he won't have it. He knows what's coming next and if he doesn't get into the tub, he's going to let us know he doesn't appreciate the delay of events. He's always loved his bath, but he's really gotten mobile lately, rolling all over the place to get toys and other objects that will taste good. So tonight, we put him in his favorite place, the tub, and he immediately tried to roll out! Silly bug, I guess he's still too young to realize that if he rolled out, he'd roll right on to the cold, hard linoleum. And that's no fun at all. I think we convinced him to stay in and he enjoyed his bath once he realized he was in it for the long haul. And as much as he loves his bath, he loves it even more when his daddy pulls him out and lifts him in the air! That boy loves to be clean!

It's Beginning to Happen...

Well, it's been coming on for quite some time, but it's officially here: Teething. What a hard thing to go through! Poor kid, all he does is rub his tongue over his bottom gums and moan. I've tried everything: Tylenol, oragel, teething tablets, frozen teething rings, thawed teething rings and my fingers. Nothing seems to help, so I just keep feeling those gums, hoping to feel teeth so Jackson gets a little relief. I always heard it was bad, but man oh man, who knew it would be this bad! That's what our day has consisted of today. Anything to make the boy feel better has been my one and only goal. Teething tablets and bedtime in an hour, so maybe he'll rest a little.

Pork Chops and Applesauce

Jackson has a new thing. When he eats, he goes "mmmm" like he's eating a gourmet meal. He loves to eat, this kid! I put him in his high chair while I "cook" his breakfast and he gets so excited, he starts squealing and talking. I give him a rattle to play with, so as to distract him, because if I take too long, he starts screaming! I think he gets worried that I'm not going to feed him. When I finally sit down, he gets so excited he starts banging his rattle around and grabs for the spoon. I can't get the food to his mouth fast enough, and if I take too long in between bites, he gets real cranky. He's sure to let me know that he enjoys his breakfast, though, because he says, "mmmmm" with each and every bite. Who knew a breakfast of applesauce and green beans would make a boy so happy!

Weekend with Grandie and Pa Paw

This weekend we had another adventure! We went to Florence to visit Grandie Phi and Pa Paw Morris. What fun! We got there just in time for dinner on Friday. Jackson was so good, he chilled for a while and then got his bath and went to bed. Saturday Sean and I left Jackson with his grandparents and had our own adventure! We met Tracy and Kevin in Greenville to explore the town. If you've never visited, or it's been awhile, I highly recommend it. What a beautiful city, the downtown area is right on the Reedy River, with plenty of restaurants and shops. Every person we encountered was helpful and friendly. It was great. Meanwhile, Jackson was spoiled rotten by his grandparents, going for walks, cuddling on the couch and eating and drinking to his heart's content. He had so much fun, I think he was a little disappointed to see us come. After a relaxing afternoon of eating and talking, we packed up the car and came home.

Meanwhile, Jackson is trying desperately to crawl, bending those legs in and getting up on his arms. This is a boy who knows what he wants. He'll be chillin' on his tummy and see a toy across the room, and he'll roll and turn until he gets it. It won't be long 'til he's crawling everywhere and Sean and I are babyproofing the house!

My name is Amy and I wanted to share a story about a little man named Jackson. He's my almost 5 month old son. My husband Sean and I have been married for 5 1/2 years and we were pleasantly surprised when we found out we were expecting. He is the love of our lives, meeting his milestones and surprising us each day with a new sound or a new expression. Jackson has become our world and we love it.

In Jackson's short life we have gone on many adventures. The whole family has travelled to Concord, NC to see his great grandma Trexler twice, we've been to Florence, SC twice to visit with Grandie Phi and Pa Paw and we've been to Ocean Isle beach for a week for the Pettapiece family reunion. Jackson and I travelled to Charleston, SC to visit Aunt Sara, Cousin Tyler and Auntie T. We left Dad at home so he could have a boys weekend with Uncle Trae.

In fact, we go on some kind of adventure everyday. Some are worth noting, like when we went to Katie and Brents house for lunch yesterday. Others aren't, like when we just go to the grocery store or to Target. But I wanted to start this so family and friends could check in and see what's going on in the wonderful world of Jackson.
