Old Friends

We went up to Washington DC for the weekend to meet some of my friends and their kids, all of whom were born in March of 2007. There were 6 mommies and babies, and most of our husbands were there, too. We met at the National Aquarium, which is really just a big room with some fish tanks. It didn't matter, we weren't there for the fish, but for the company. And we took over that aquarium. The kids were all crawling around and climbing on things and it was great to watch them play together. When we decided it was time to take group pictures, Jackson had had enough of the aquarium.
We headed to lunch and then for a walk around the nations capital. It was so cool to meet so many friends and to take Jackson around the city. Of course, by the time we were near any monuments, the boy was sleeping. We got lots of photos, though, to remember the day.

Christmas at the Beach!

We celebrated Christmas for the second time at Ocean Isle Beach, with Nana, Grandpa, Auntie T, UK, Aunt Sara, Uncle Chip, and Tyler. What a blast it was!

Everyone arrived Friday evening, loaded down with food, drink and the Christmas spirit. Nana and Grandpa rented a house right on the ocean and it was absolutely perfect for us.

Saturday we picked up a tree and when we finished decorating, we stepped out on the deck, and there was a rainbow. We toasted our loved ones, and got even more excited for Santa's arrival! Santa visited us on Christmas eve, so Chip and Sara could go home and Santa could bring Tyler his presents on Christmas day.


It was fine with us, we got to open presents a day early!! Jackson liked his presents all right, but he really loved all the boxes they came in. Either way, I think he had as much fun as the rest of us!

Sleep is for the Birds

Jackson has figured out how to entertain himself in his crib. I put him in there when he starts showing signs of tiredness. (Yawning, pulling on his ears, and rubbing his eyes.) But when he gets in bed, he all of a sudden is wide awake. The other day, I went in there and found the boy playing with a box. At first he looked like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Then he just grinned, and it was all good.

Christmas with Grandie, PaPaw and the Whole Family!

Last weekend we went to Florence, SC to celebrate Jackson's great grandmother's 81st birthday and Christmas! It was a wonderful weekend! All of the Trexler aunties were there, and the boy was spoiled with love and attention.

It's been a few months since the we've all been together, so it was extra special. Grandie made her famous soup and corn bread, and we topped it off with birthday cake! What a way to celebrate and be with family.

Should I Laugh or Cry?

Sometimes Jackson doesn't know whether to laugh or cry. When he gets frustrated or bored, he starts crying, but his mood is easily swayed by us laughing at him. He hears us giggling, and all of a sudden, he starts laughing with us.

The Boy and His Whale

Jackson loves his bath, but even more than that, he loves his bath toys! He's got several that he likes, but there's this yellow whale that he absolutely loves. When he gets in the tub, that whale is the first toy that he goes for. I don't know if he likes it because it's yellow or because it's a whale, but I think it's because it fits so perfectly in his mouth!

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

We are getting into the Christmas spirit here, and are busy getting the house decorated and the shopping and wrapping done. There are Christmas carols playing all day, and I'm going to teach the boy how to bake cookies this year! The advent calendar is up, and we are counting down the days. Jackson is really excited to see Santa!! (But not nearly as excited as his mom. 20 sleeps!)
