Jackson's 1!!

Jackson turned one last week and we've been celebrating since Wednesday. Our friend Stephanie took us out for lunch and gave Jackson a present from her family, a tunnel!!! He loves it!

Sean and I celebrated the boy's actual birthday by taking him to the doctor for his vaccinations. We are so mean! But we made up for it by getting Jackson his first "real" pair of shoes. When he's got them on, he walks like his feet weigh 15 pounds each, so the boy is still trying to get used to them. Anyway, he prefers to lay around while he's got them on.

We threw a little party on Saturday and many of our friends came to celebrate with us. Jackson had his first taste of a family favorite, yellow cake with chocolate icing, and it didn't take long for him to realize how yummy it is! We always knew he was a smart cookie.


All in all, I think Jackson had a great birthday week!

Happy Early Birthday, Jackson!!

Jackson's birthday isn't until Thursday, but we decided to give him his present a few days early because it's so awesome. We got the boy got a toddler couch! It's just the right size and it even folds out into a bed! Sean and I think it's going to be a hit, since the boy loves to watch tv. Normally, Jackson and I watch "SuperWhy" on PBS in the mornings, which I love, because he sits on my lap while we watch it. I'm not ready to give that up, but some afternoons, if he's woken up on the wrong side of the crib, I'll turn on the TV and he'll zone out to Sesame Street. Now he's got his own Jackson-size couch to relax on and I don't have to worry about him falling off. It's perfect and I think he likes it!

Happy Spring!

There's not much to report these days. The boy is now using just one hand to hold on to things as he cruises around, which makes me think walking is right around the corner. His vocabulary is growing more and more each day, and Jackson actually surprised us the other day by counting with us. I count to three a lot-to warn him that bathtime will be over if he doesn't sit down, to pull him up into a sit on his changing table, etc. So the other night, he was in the tub and he stood up. I started counting, one... two... and Jackson said "teee" as if he were counting with me. It was so cool. Sean came home shortly after and at that point, Jackson had added a "tooooo" to his "teeee" and happily counted along all night for us. He also says "ka ka" when he sees a kitty cat. His birthday is in 4 days. I can't believe our little baby is going to be one!

Why Weaning is No Fun

We are starting to cut out daytime bottles since Jackson's almost one. It's been relatively painless-at least it was until last week. Sean was in California for business and by Friday, I was tired and ready for him to come home. Jackson's been fighting his afternoon nap, and that Friday, I was desperate. So I made the boy a bottle to see if it would put him to sleep. Well, it struck a memory cord and Saturday was rough. "No Napson Jackson" (as we are fondly calling him these days) appeared and was tired, cranky, and looking for his bottle. We tried giving him some milk in a sippy, but I just know he was remembering what tired and cranky got him the day before. He wasn't having it and we could not calm him down.



So how did we get the boy to chill? A lime, of course! Actually, I don't know how or why this came about, but as soon as Sean cut the top off of that lime and gave it to Jackson, life was much better.

Good Times

Jackson loves to pull his dirty clothes out of his hamper and into his crib. And now he's got a new thing with his laundry. He enjoys going head first into his laundry basket and laughing at himself. It's so funny.

He also helped Daddy lower his crib. Jackson is one good helper!!

Gimme Five!

Auntie T and UK came to visit this weekend. They drove in late Friday night from Atlanta and got up early on Saturday morning to greet the boy when he woke up. Jackson was so happy to see his aunt and uncle. Uncle Trae came at lunch time and we went to the beach for lunch. It was about 70 degrees out, so we came home and pulled out the croquette, set it up, and played a few matches. Jackson had fun crawling around, playing with the wickets and eating the mallets. Sunday was another beautiful day and we did much of the same thing. Ate lunch at a local burger joint and then came back and played bocce ball. Jackson wasn't so into bocce, but he did enjoying calling his nana to sing Happy Birthday to her. Monday, Sean had to fly to San Francisco for business, but Auntie T and UK decided to stay an extra day. We lounged around and relaxed after such a busy weekend. Auntie T and UK had to leave this morning, and Jackson and I are both going through withdrawal.




Jackson also mastered the art of "gimme five" and did it all weekend. For your viewing pleasure...
