I have decided that since we are getting ready to move away from the beach that I ought to be out there as much as I possibly can. Jackson loves the sand and the surf and so do I, so yesterday, I packed up our beach bag with all the essentials, loaded up Jackson and away we went. I always forget how much I love Wrightsville Beach until I step foot in the sand. Then it all comes back and I wonder why I don't spend every free moment I have there. It's gorgeous, clean and the water is so blue you can see the ocean floor. We found a great spot, unloaded our stuff and plopped down in the sand for some digging. Jackson loves to dig, but more importantly, he loves to eat the sand. Yuck! But I can't convince him that it's nasty, so I just try to keep it to a minimum. He also loves beautiful ladies and older gentlemen. We took a walk and I had to practically pull him away from some ladies who were lounging. He was trying to crawl up in their laps! And all the older men-he was gravitated toward them, too. He must be missing his grandfathers. After our walk, we decided to go swimming. We were sitting in the surf and a when a wave would come up and he'd yell, "Whoa!" and then "Cool!" It was awesome. We had a great time until it was time to leave. We were both ready, so taking the boy away from the beach was no problem, but getting him cleaned off to ride home was. All of a sudden I was faced with undressing a wiggling toddler, hosing him off, and keeping at least one of our towels dry, with about 10 folks waiting for us to be finished. It's doable, though, so I think Jackson and I will be spending most of our free time between now and the move, at the beach.
